John Blake is entering his first season as the head coach of the Upper Arlington High School boys JV A team. John has been a successful competitive head coach for the past twelve years, including the past five years with US club LFC United in Hilliard, Ohio, where he is the High School Coordinator, and head coach for the boys U19 and U17 Elite club teams.
John is a very passionate coach that focuses on player development, teaching the tactical and technical game correctly, maximizing each player’s potential, while promoting a fun, competitive, winning environment.
As a player, John was an offensive award winner at Bishop Watterson High School before becoming a four-year starter, three-year team captain, and all-conference award winner for Ohio Dominican University as a central midfielder. He also spent a season playing overseas in Norway, Sweden, and Germany against international competition, and had a successful amateur
career in the CPSL men’s first division, including multiple team championships.
John holds his USSF National “D” and “E” coaching licenses, along with several USSF Grassroots youth licenses, and is currently earning his United Soccer Coaches High School Diploma. John values his continuing coaching education and will also be looking to earn his USSF National “C” license this winter.
John has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University. He and his wife, Chrissy, reside in Hilliard, Ohio, with their three children Connor, Dillon, and Elizabeth.
